SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“Set your bar high — make your activity match your commitment.”

I grew up in a small farm town in Washington and had always had a great love for the outdoors. After graduating from college with a degree in business, I explored many different opportunities. In the summer of 2005, I met the man of my dreams and he swept me off my feet. I sold my house, quit my job and moved to Canada. Things quickly fell into place as I joined forces with Dave and together we expanded his already successful sales agency. Before I knew it, three years had passed. Work had taken over, our crazy schedule kept us on the road most of the year, we were exhausted, and we had pushed ourselves to every limit. Success came at a price and I felt like my life was passing me by. No amount of success could give us what we really longed for: more quality time together and with our families. I was trading all my time for money and I realized that my time was worth a lot more.

When we finally settled into our new home just outside of Hope, British Columbia, the welcome wagon brought more than just bread — it brought Arbonne. I was introduced to Diana Gilbert, the local Arbonne gal, and she was quick to invite me to a spa party. What a great way to meet the neighbours and get some time to relax and put my feet up! I immediately fell in love with the products and became an Independent Consultant in order to purchase my products at a discount. Diana encouraged me to look at the business opportunity, but I politely said "no" for seven months. I was too busy with my job, not to mention that I had no experience in the skin care industry and I didn't know anyone in Canada, even after living here for three years. There was no way I was going to add something else to my already overflowing plate, let alone what I thought was just a little "stay-at-home mom business." I wasn't a stay-at-home mom — I didn't even have kids. I was a career woman and had worked very hard and sacrificed a great deal to get where I was financially. But clearly the universe had a different plan.

One evening while I was playing a simple board game, everything changed. I pulled out a card and read it aloud: "Would you rather go through life being mediocre, or knowing you were bound for greatness but would never achieve it?" I couldn't imagine having to choose either of those options and it was at that moment when I realized I had settled for “uncomfortably comfortable” and that the only thing holding me back was my own fear, a fear of change. I realized that if I continued doing the same thing, I would continue to get the same results. I was living a mediocre life, but I believed I was bound for greatness. I decided I had to make a change, although I was still unsure what that would look like. Two days later, like clockwork, came the monthly courtesy call from Diana, and this time she invited me to be her guest at an upcoming event. That was really all it took. The event opened my eyes to the amazing opportunity. I realized that not only was I saying no to Diana, but I was also saying no to myself, my dreams and my hopes for a balanced life. I went home wondering what I had been saying no to for seven months. What if this was my opportunity for greatness and I didn't even look at it?

I didn't sleep that night. Diana came over the next day and explained the business to me and my husband, and I finally said yes! I feel so grateful that my true opportunity for greatness was patiently waiting for me. I decided to launch my Arbonne business in April of 2008 and jumped in with both feet, never looking back at my mediocre life. I immediately got into activity and found that my excitement became contagious. As my team started to grow, my fear became hope and I knew that success was inevitable. I began to believe in myself again and I was able to inspire many others to find their own greatness. I promoted to District Manager in my first month and completed Area Manager in my second month. My Arbonne business was booming! I was able to quit my full-time job and was excited about life again. I was making a positive impact on my quality of life and the lives of so many others. I could clearly see the light at the end of the tunnel and it was shining bright. With the help of my amazing team, we became a Region in seven months. My success with Arbonne has given me the financial freedom and flexibility I always longed for. I choose how to spend my time, living a life of abundance and love.

I want to thank Gultaj Somani, Tina Overbury, Lenka Stolar and Diana Gilbert, my amazing upline of leaders who not only showed me the path, but were also there to guide me along each step to success.

Thank you, Diana, for giving me this gift, realizing “no” just meant “no for now” and always believing in me.

Thank you to my amazing team. My Island and Williams Lake gals, you inspire me to greatness every day. I could never have done this without you. I feel so blessed to be on this journey together.

Thank you to my wonderful husband, Dave. You never wavered in your belief. You are my rock, my soft place to land and my love forever.
