“It simply starts with a step of faith.”

I am so truly humbled to be sharing my experience thus far with this incredible company called Arbonne. My journey began by simply signing up for the discount as a customer back in May of 2005, at an Arbonne Presentation I attended with my good friend, now DM Laura Starreveld. That evening was the beginning of a brand-new chapter in my life and a huge change in direction for my family's future. I was a busy wife, mom of 4- and 2-year-old daughters, and working as a professional figure skating coach. My husband, a professional engineer, had just started an environmental business that keeps him extremely busy. The decision to own our own company was the way we planned to “own” our future, and with the time and financial sacrifice of running it, we certainly were not looking for yet another business. However, sometimes opportunities are looking for you even if you are not looking for them. Having been a professional coach for over 10 years, I had built myself a successful career, but I was feeling torn about whether my career would suit being the mother of two young children. The hard part was that our lifestyle at the time was dependent upon dual incomes. It was very heavy on my heart and I hoped maybe the “perfect” way to contribute financially — but still have freedom to be available when our kids needed me — would magically present itself.

Well, that magical opportunity did present itself, in the form of the home Presentation I attended. My initial intention was to purchase maybe one item to be polite; however, the Presentation was awesome and I was intrigued to learn about Arbonne and what makes their products unique and second to none. This led me to purchase the entire NutriMinC® RE9™ anti-aging skin care line and sign up to be an Arbonne Independent Consultant so I could purchase the products at a discount. The skin care was absolutely amazing and within a couple of weeks both my husband and a close friend of mine had made comments on how great my skin looked. I was sold on the product, but I still had not considered or even given a thought to pursuing the business side of things. It was my husband who became intrigued by the business opportunity, began reading about it and, to my surprise, encouraged me to consider starting my own Arbonne business.

After many conversations with both my husband and my sponsor, Tobi, I closed my eyes and jumped in, not knowing a thing about the journey I was about to embark upon. I was, as they say, “ignorance on fire,” putting all my trust in my upline and simply doing everything they recommended. I was terrified to speak in public; even a small setting like a home Presentation literally scared me to the point of feeling physically ill. I was not an outgoing person beyond my small circle of friends and I was so full of fear, knowing nothing about this industry. In fact, all I really knew was that I loved the product.

Now here I am, a little more than three years later, telling you my story and my journey to success. I have been so blessed by this business opportunity and what it has done for my family and my fellow business partners, and how deeply I have personally been changed. When I started my business, everything about it was so far outside of my comfort zone, I couldn't even see past my first Presentation! But with great coaching from my sponsor, I jumped in with both feet and have never looked back.

I followed a system that works, and now I have an incredible team of men and women who all share similar goals and dreams and are not just accepting the “normal” life. We aim for that which is truly extraordinary — life on our terms! We work when we want, with whom we want, and we have the power to make the income we want, all while helping others do the same! Who wouldn't want to join this business? It simply starts with a step of faith!

Carly, you were the first ACE to join my business and it kicked me into high gear. Thank you for that! You and your team have always been a strong powerhouse, since the day you started. You are a true example of deciding what you want and letting nothing stand in your way. You have a team of strong-willed, hard-working and dedicated women. I thank you for everything you have brought to this team and for being a huge part of creating this Nation.

Maureen, you and your team worked until the last minute of the month to help us finish Nation and that pretty much sums up your dedication to not only building your own business, but also to being fully dedicated to what was a common goal of our becoming a Nation. You are the purest example of hard work and leading by example. You have taught me the true value this business brings into people's lives and I am thankful every day that you saw this opportunity for what it was and have never looked back!

To my mom and dad: I know you thought I was crazy for pursuing this, but you supported me anyway. To my amazing husband: You believed in this opportunity before I even agreed to start and your belief has only grown stronger over the years. You have not only supported me, but you have also worked at building your own Arbonne business in the nooks and crannies of running our other company, and I know you have big dreams and the willingness to never give up, even if it takes you longer to achieve them. Thank you for all that you do for our family — you are such a blessing in my life. You are my best friend. I love you!

To my Why, Mila and Makenna: I hope that by building this business I have not only been a better mom, but have also set an example that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. You see Mommy work hard, yet still have the time and energy to play hard and be fully connected to our family. That is the gift of Arbonne. I love you both with every part of my being.
