SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“Believe in yourself — that is what makes you a winner.”

In February 2006, I was not looking for an opportunity, but an opportunity was looking for me. Arbonne does not come into your life by chance; all things happen for a reason.

I attended an Arbonne Presentation at Tammy Van der Veen’s home after she had been asking me for seven months to come and see what she was doing. It was not that I wanted to ignore her invitations; it was simply the fact I was too busy. I have three children, and my husband and I owned and operated a fast food restaurant and a home and office renovation company. We certainly were not looking for a third business. I finally committed to attend a Presentation and I arrived there exhausted, after having opened the restaurant at 6 a.m. and plopped myself down on the couch. As the Presentation started to unfold, I was introduced to an amazing line of products and I heard about an incredible opportunity to start a business that I knew in my heart I could not pass up. My biggest worry was how to tell my husband, Rick, that I was starting yet another business that could bring more chaos into our life.

I launched my Arbonne business February 28, 2006. I was committed, determined and literally fit it into the nooks and crannies of my busy life. I was determined to succeed as the thought of working from home really appealed to me. I had never been a stay-at-home mom. I began my married life as a paralegal and worked in that profession for 12 years. I had three children and never stayed home longer than maternity leave would allow. In 1994, when my children were 2, 4 and 7, my family pursued a new opportunity and moved from Saskatchewan to Alberta to open a fast food restaurant. For the next 12 years, our life ran by the clock of the restaurant. We worked hard, we learned a lot and we built a very successful business, however our life was not our own. There came a time that we felt lifestyle was more important than money and we decided to sell our restaurant. With that sale went some financial independence but I knew that with hard work and dedication to my Arbonne business, I could regain that independence and the potential for financial freedom. For the first time in my life, I became a stay-at-home mom and yet could still significantly contribute to our family income.

I have learned so many things about myself from this journey and my reasons for doing this business are many. My big Why was freedom: The freedom to choose how my day looks, where I go and who I see. I also want to help people achieve success with Arbonne because there is a huge sense of accomplishment from growing a business. I want to teach those that want to succeed, and I want to share with my husband and children a more peaceful life. And when you are determined to create your own future and overcome obstacles to reach a greater place, it gives you an inner peace that you must experience to understand. I want to give back to those who are less fortunate.

With hard work, a willingness to serve and helping others achieve success, the opportunity for those reasons to be achieved becomes real. Arbonne has no prerequisite on who can succeed. It does not matter if you are single, married, old, young, educated, rich or poor or what your background was. Everyone starts in an equal playing field — we are all given the same opportunity; the same company, the same training, the same awesome products, the same chance for success. The rest is up to us!

To my husband, Rick, thank you for understanding how important it was for me to do this, for believing in me and for quietly supporting me one hundred percent. You are my teacher and my best friend. You have taught me about business, how to seize an opportunity and to never, ever quit working, no matter how hard it gets, no matter how tired I am, no matter what. Thank you for all you do for our family. I love you and look forward to living our dreams.

God blessed me with amazing kids. To my daughter, EDM Brittany Tash, you jumped in and were first to join me on this amazing journey. I am so proud of all you have accomplished. You are becoming a great leader and I can hardly wait for “your” day. To my son Dustin, you understood the business, the qualifications and the SuccessPlan even before I did. Thank you for helping Mom learn and for always listening to my “exciting” news. To my son Michael, thanks for making sure I knew what a Mercedes-Benz looked like, for loading my car and never complaining about carrying my bags.

To my sponsor and dear friend, ERVP Tammy Van der Veen, thank you for not giving up on me. Thank you for giving me hope, for giving me the chance to dream and the inspiration to change my story. I am so blessed to be on your team. To my upline, Tobi Shutz, Heather Hiemstra and Karen Skeels you reach down, no matter how far to help, to teach and to mentor. Thank you for your leadership.

To my mom, Sylvia Guy, thank you for instilling in me an unfaltering faith in God and for being my biggest cheerleader. To my dad, Allan, and Marge, thank you for setting your expectations high so that I would learn to have high expectations of myself, and to my in-laws, Ed and Eva Tash, thank you for setting an amazing example of work ethic and for supporting us in all our endeavors.

To AM Linda Newman, thank you for your hard work, your friendship and your passion for Arbonne. You are an amazing role model. To AM-in-qualifications Elise Newman, you have an amazing team and I am so proud of your willingness to step outside the box.

To AM-in-qualification Bonnie McFadyen, thank you for helping me realize my dream of building a team in Saskatchewan. You did not know me and yet you trusted me. Thank you for not giving up, for believing enough in yourself to reach for your dreams and for working so hard to make this happen for your family.

To our DMs, Kim Harris, Robyn MacDonald, Linda Tripple, Candice Lenard, Adelle Prather, Deb Ramsay, Ricki-Lynn Feist, Marilyn Ganger and Katrina Funk, thank you for your dedication, your friendship and your willingness to learn. You make me so proud to be part of Arbonne. Set your goals high and reach for your dreams.

To all of our working Consultants, you are on an amazing journey. Follow the recipe for success, stay in consistent activity and do not quit. Each step you take brings you one step closer to your dreams.

To all of my Consultants, Clients, family and friends, thank you for your valued business and for making my job so much fun. You have supported me 100 percent and I am forever grateful. This opportunity has changed my life, my attitude and my purpose. If you read this story and your mind starts to wander; if you feel a glimmer of hope and an excitement within, take it and run. You deserve the chance to decide the words that will write the rest of your story.
