SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“See the rainbow, not the rain.”

As doors close on us, God always opens up new ones – it is just a question of whether or not you have the courage to go through them, belief in yourself and the willingness to take risks.

Two years ago, I made a decision that would greatly impact those who were the closest to my heart, my four-year-old son, Taras, and my husband, Mike. After teaching full-time in a middle school for nine years, I found myself being torn between the two things that I loved the most — my family and my career.

I am the type of person that when I decide to take something on, I do it as best as I can. That may sound like a great thing, but honestly, it places a lot of stress on a person. I would often catch myself reinventing the wheel, so to speak, simply because I was not content with using others’ ideas or work unless I tailor made it to be recognized as my own. Because of this, I often ended up sacrificing precious time with my family. Through some challenging obstacles, I soon realized that a job is just that — a job. No matter how great you may be at it you are always going to be replaceable. I did not want to miss out on my family any longer; plus my husband and I were not having any success with a second child, making my decision even easier. It was time I made some sacrifices for those who were constantly making sacrifices for me – my family. I decided to resign and place my family before my career, before a paycheck, because that is simply what it boils down to – just a paycheck. A couple of months later we were finally blessed with that second child that we so longed for.

Less than two weeks prior to the delivery of our second son, Kaelem, I was invited to one of the first Arbonne Presentations held in my town. Not having heard of the product before and feeling physically uncomfortable, I was totally not interested in going. When I simply asked for a Product Catalogue, my friend, Jamie commented, “If you cannot come, I cannot give you a catalogue. The catalogue just does not do the product justice.” I became immediately curious about this thing called Arbonne, so I decided to go regardless of how I was feeling. That night I was hooked, line and sinker – on the products, that is. The business did not interest me at all as I did not really paid attention to the opportunity. Although I left my job, I was still a teacher and I knew that one day I would have to go back as a substitute or part-time for financial reasons. Once a teacher, always a teacher. Little did I know at the time that educating others about Arbonne would soon be my next chosen path on this journey we call life.

A few days later, I decided to host a Presentation of my own simply because I loved the products and wanted to get some more for free. My husband was also present and to this day I still remember his words halfway through the Presentation: “You should do this, it sounds like a great opportunity, plus we would love it if you could stay home with us and not have to go back to work.” I vividly remember pacing the floor debating whether or not to sign up as if my life depended on it. In all honesty though, what did I have to lose? I was going to be on a year maternity leave anyway. Why not jump in and see where it could take me? If anything, at the very least, I would be getting some great products for an amazing price. That night, my journey began with Arbonne. I promoted to DM in my first month with a newborn at my side. Three months later, AM. Who says you cannot do this business during the summer months? Exactly one year into the business, our team promoted to Region. My goal was to be making at least what I would have if I went back teaching and to be driving that Mercedes-Benz by the end of April. I did it!

I am a firm believer that prior to even setting foot on this earth, we plan our life — the joys, the successes and even the sorrows and challenges. These experiences are what make us the person we ultimately desire to become. We choose our destiny; therefore, do not let anyone plan how your life will end up but you! We all want to impact those we meet and to leave an everlasting impression. Through Arbonne you can do that.

Establish a strong Why. We often hear, “your Why should make you cry.” Mine does. Each time I kiss my children good morning, I take the time to thank God for the opportunity I was given, my day, and that I get to choose how I want to spend it. I enjoy being in control of my life now, knowing that I am rewarded for my efforts. I teach my team to hold themselves accountable for their own business as well; there comes a time when if they want it bad enough they should be able to do it on their own without anyone holding their hand. I have learned to believe in myself and those on my team. I no longer dwell on the trials of this business. I just think of the things that get in my way as a pit stop – time to reflect on what you are doing well and the things you need to change, and then to refuel for the next go of it.

Persistence, constant activity and having a positive attitude are the keys to success in such a business. Think of it like being on a swing: As soon as you slow down in the pumping of your legs, your momentum, you eventually come to a complete stop. It is much harder to start all over again than if you would have just kept on pumping. Many people come into this business going hard and strong, but somewhere along the line they lose that, they slow down and eventually quit — their excuses are greater than their Why, and their vision is not clear enough. Accept that. You cannot be the savior for all souls and want something for someone more than they want it for themselves.

The most exciting thing about Arbonne is that the potential for both financial freedom and the time with those you love is unlimited. Dream big! Be thankful for the opportunity, the blessings in your life, and think beyond the stars. A favorite verse I hold dear from a card my sister gave to me when I became an RVP says that if you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it. Let Arbonne become your tool in achieving your wildest dreams.

To ENVP Jaclyne Kunz, ERVP Mary McCabe and ERVP Kristen Willows: Thank you so much for your continued support, words of wisdom and commitment to this business. You are such amazing mentors and I have learned so much from all of you.

To my wonderful friend and former colleague, AM Camille Cory: You continue to amaze me with your hard work and dedication. Others are attracted to you because you are such an astonishing leader. I am so proud to work with you as we continue to build our Arbonne businesses together, just as I loved working with you when we taught together. We do make an amazing team!

To my DMs: Thank you for trusting in me and for believing in yourself enough to jump aboard on this fabulous rollercoaster ride. Believe in the possibility, because together we will achieve more. Set your goals high and keep pushing forward.

To my sponsor and friend, Jamie Wolfe: If it were not for your belief in me that I had what it took, I would not be here sharing my Eye on Arbonne story. Thank you for spending countless hours with me on the phone and guiding me through the beginning of this journey.

To my Consultants and Clients: Thank you all for your continued support and for believing and trusting in a product that works.

To those reading my Eye on Arbonne story: The hardest thing for anyone to do is “take the first step in faith. You do not have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.” May you embrace this wonderful opportunity, just as I have.
