SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“Try not to give advice …instead, teach by example.”

In November of 2004, I was invited to attend an Arbonne
Presentation at NVP Sonya Shields’ home. At the time, Sonya was a District Manager and no one in this area had ever heard of Arbonne. Before arriving to the Presentation, I had already assumed this was just another skin care line, similar to other ones. I soon learned otherwise. I do not think I even really listened to her Presentation. Later in the evening when one of the guests asked me to do her makeup, I realized these products were different. I ended up hosting a Presentation for Sonya. It was at that Presentation that I also discovered this opportunity was like no other.

Over the next couple of months, Sonya would casually encourage
me to consider joining the business, but I just kept using the excuses that I was “too busy” and “I really loved my job.” All of this was true. I was self-employed and loved my job as a barrel horse trainer. It was my dream job. At least, that was what I kept telling myself. The truth was I was working so hard and barely getting by. On top of that, my horses were always left on the backburner because client’s horses came first. I finally decided it was time to give Arbonne a try. After all, I loved the products and so many of my friends were experiencing wonderful results from Arbonne’s skin care line and cosmetics. As busy as my life was, I made time, put in the effort and have sailed through at full speed ever since.

About four months into my Arbonne business, I got into an accident with a horse. At this time, I realized what a real blessing this opportunity was. If this unfortunate circumstance had happened four months earlier, I would have been wondering how I was going to pay my bills. I knew then that Arbonne was going to be my highest priority. It started out as my plan B and gradually became my plan A.

I have been very fortunate to have an amazing group of people help me on my journey. Some are business partners and good friends. I did not have any business builders at the start, but I had the support of some good people.

Bob Bowers was the first one to help me launch my business. Bob, you allowed me to take over your home and place of business tohost Presentations and meetings. You believed in me and this business from day one, and went out of your way to see me succeed; for that, I am forever grateful.

Thank you to Sonya Shields for sharing this amazing gift. You are a great leader!

Thank you to all of my Clients and Consultants who purchase product at a discount, for loving these products as much as I do.

To my dear friend, Carrie Suitor: Thank you for all of your support, and for believing in me. I love you, Murray and Lacey, very much.

My family has also been incredibly supportive as well. To my aunt, Kirby; Cindy and grandpa, Bruce: Thank you for hosting numerous Presentations. To my grandpa, Bud and my stepfather, Craig: You do not know how helpful it was that you both teased me ruthlessly just to keep me on my toes. To my grandmother, Phyllis: Thank you for buying everybody Arbonne products for Christmas! I am so grateful to all of you. My mom, Dee Butterfield, needed to see the Mercedes-Benz to believe, and now she is a DM. Mom, you were already a successful businesswoman and I have no doubt where you will take your Arbonne business — right to the top! Thank you for believing in me.

As for my business partners, I do not even know where to begin. I am thankful for every single one of you. You all have qualities in you that I wish I had. I am so proud of all of your accomplishments. Thank you for trusting and believing in me, and for joining me on this amazing journey. I cannot wait to see all of you driving your Mercedes-Benzes. As we like to say in our Arbonne circles, “Some people go through life making things happen, some people stand by and watch things happen, and others wonder at the end of their life what happened.” I know that all of you are the ones who make things happen.

To my sponsor, ERVP Jaclyne Kunz: I will forever love you. We grew up together and now we are building our futures together.

To my part-time roommate and full-time dear friend, ERVP Billie Long: Thank you for everything and, “Hey, could you check my WebStats for me, please?”

For those of you who are struggling in your business, I encourage you to simply remove the option to quit and you will succeed. I like to say, if you aim for nothing, you will hit it every time. If you are actively pursuing this business, then I know you are aiming for something; so, just keep believing and working away at it. For those who are just learning about Arbonne, I urge you to trust that the person who has introduced Arbonne to you sees something in you that makes them believe you can succeed in this business. After that, it is up to you to prove them right.
