SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“This business is simple and will work if you do.”

Four years ago, my two-year-old daughter said something to me that changed my whole perspective on life with one sentence. I was working full time as a nursing instructor at a local college, and I took her with me to my office one evening. She was very excited to be there; she looked around my office and exclaimed, “Mommy, I love this place where you live!” It was only later that my husband Jason let me know that whenever he would drive by the college with her, she would point at it and say, “That's where Mommy lives!” Talk about a moment of clarity, and brought on by a two-year-old! A few months later, my sister Danyel called me one evening and asked if I'd ever heard of Arbonne. She began telling me about an RN from Stony Plain who had quit nursing after starting her own Arbonne business. I think my sister almost fell off her chair when, after a multitude of questions, I told her I wanted to start my own Arbonne business! Usually quite skeptical and reserved, jumping in with both feet was out of character for me, not to mention I was very low maintenance, barely wore makeup, and washed my face with a bar of soap ... but it was a matter of timing. I had been re-evaluating what was really important to me in life, and the fact that I had a young family at home wanting to spend more time with me meant way more to me than any job.

On March 18, 2006, I started my Arbonne business, and for the first year, I worked it alongside my full-time nursing position. Life was busier than ever that first year, but I worked my business in the nooks and crannies of life. Never letting a minute go to waste, I would make my Arbonne phone calls on my lunch break, and I stopped the nighttime TV ritual, creating extra time in my life to work my business. I realized that time is a choice, and to say we don't have time for something is really like saying it isn't a priority. I therefore made time for my business, because making my business work meant more time for my family as a result. It paid off when within exactly one year of starting my Arbonne business, on March 18, 2007, I worked my last day at the college.

I was passionate about nursing, and teaching in particular, but I was looking for a change. I knew what other people thought I should be doing, but it wasn't working for me anymore. I needed to start focusing on what I wanted in life, and what was best for my family and me. That's what I love about Arbonne. It can provide the best of both worlds for anyone who chooses to build an Arbonne business. Specifically for women, there comes a point in many of our lives when we feel we have to choose between our career and raising a family. Then when we do decide to either go back to work, or stay at home, we may experience guilt with our decision either way. Arbonne has the potential to provide women with both options — to stay home with your children and be the CEO of your own business. If you are looking for a change, and a new, positive direction in life, Arbonne may be exactly what you are looking for. Arbonne offers so much more than health and wellness products — it is a business education, a personal growth journey, and a social community of positive and inspiring women and men.

I would first like to thank my husband, Jason. It is because of you that I have been able to focus on my business and achieve some big goals! You help out whenever needed and have always believed in me. You are the best dad to our girls, and they adore you as much as I do. I love you more than you know...

Avery and Finley, you are my Why for doing my business. Kids teach us many things in life if we stop and listen. I have learned some of my biggest lessons from both of you. Arbonne has given me the chance to work and earn while being with my family ... if it weren't for you, Av and Fin, I may never have looked at this business opportunity. You are both — at ages 11 and 6 — already such beautiful, kind, conscientious girls who I know are going to make a positive difference in the world! XO

To ERVP Carly Struik, NVP Tammy Van der Veen, ERVP Tobi Schutz, ERVP Heather Hiemstra and NVP Karen Skeels: I want to thank you for always believing in me! I am thankful for a lot of things in my business, one of the big ones being that it has brought all of you into my life!

To EAM Tara Anderson and AM Claire McKay: Your determination and hard work continue to inspire me in my own business. You are both excellent examples of working your business consistently and with integrity, and I admire you for that.

To EDM Michelle O'How and EDM Donna Schellenberg: You girls both have huge Whys for doing your businesses! What you did to become District Managers is all you need to do to keep going on up to Nation! I believe in you and the girls on your teams 100 percent.
