SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“The key to success is perseverance.”

It was October of 2006 when I first noticed how great my girlfriend's skin looked. She told me about the new anti-aging products she was using. Since my teenage years, I have looked for products to improve the appearance of my skin, so with her testimony alone I was sold on the Arbonne skin care.

Over the next two months, that friend, now NVP Carly Struik, decided to start her Arbonne business, and asked if I would be a hostess. I was far from the home party type, as were many of my friends and family. However, I knew I wanted to share these products with them, so I agreed. Carly's excitement over the business opportunity, the Mercedes-Benz that can be earned and the financial potential started to pique my interest.

At the time, I was working in the insurance industry. I was about a year out of University and in a two-year program which found me back in school, taking night courses and working toward a career. I was not looking for a side venture to take up more of my time, but the possibility of earning extra money to continue travelling and the potential to earn a generous income was very appealing. I indulged Carly and attended an Arbonne Presentation shortly after the New Year. Two things stood out to me that night. First, the Consultants sharing how Arbonne had changed their lives were very real. I wasn't sitting in a room listening to facts and figures that didn't directly affect me. I was in the presence of women who had taken charge of their lives and created exactly what they wanted. And second, this is a ground-floor opportunity. I honestly believed I had the unique opportunity to be a leader at the top of this company, and five years later that same excitement and sense of urgency remains. So, with a huge amount of excitement, yet even more fear, the Presentation Carly asked me to host became my business launch in January of 2006.

Despite my hesitation to speak in front of groups, knowing next to nothing about the product line, and being self-conscious about the network marketing industry, I jumped in with both feet. I became an Area Manager in nine months and earned enough money to travel and do some guilt-free shopping.

Although I was grateful for the success I had seen thus far, there had been times over the last five years when I questioned why my business did not continue to grow. Although my belief in this company never wavered, my belief in myself really started to dwindle. I wondered why, after so long, I was still in the same place.

In September of 2009, my focus shifted when my husband and I welcomed our daughter into our family. Prior to becoming a mother, being a “stay-at-home mom” was not appealing to me; however, that sentiment definitely changed. While on maternity leave, I realized I had three choices. I could return to work and place my daughter in someone else's care 40/50 hours each week. I could quit my job, stay at home, and experience a standard of living decrease by living on one income. Or I could take this business to the next level. With Arbonne, I have the chance to fulfill two dreams. I am able to remain financially independent, keep my social life, and work toward creating a huge organization, while at the same time giving our daughter the full-time mom she deserves.

The beauty of Arbonne is that it met my needs at various stages. When I wanted to travel and shop more, I earned enough to do so. Now I am replacing my corporate income. For years, I was convinced the traditional corporate business model was the only avenue to success. It wasn't until I educated myself on network marketing that I realized how brilliant the concept is, as there is an opportunity for time freedom while transforming your income.

To every Consultant in this SuccessLine who pushed for their own goals while bringing us to the bigger goal of creating a new Region: Thank you for making a decision to do something the majority of people are afraid to do.

To my sponsor, NVP Carly Struik: Some say you don't need an upline to do this business. I disagree. Your support, encouragement and friendship have given me the belief in myself that I at times lacked. Thank you for never giving up on me. I know each day we get closer to the beach!

To AM Nicole Mattice: Your hard work, tenacity and loyalty are making you an ENVP. You are a true ACE and I am so fortunate to have you as such a huge part of my business.

To AM Kimberley Gouchee: Thank you for continuing to believe in yourself. You have a gift with people and using it to help others change their lives is what is taking you to the top.

To my sister, DM Angie Weishaupt: You are the only person in my SuccessLine I knew prior to Arbonne. I want you to know how much you impact what I do and who I am as a leader. Arbonne truly does give the gift of time and I am so grateful for everything we are able to do and experience together.

To my mom and dad: I wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for you. Thank you for all the last-minute purchases, for never doubting my decisions and for always believing that I would pull into the driveway in a white Mercedes-Benz.

Finally, to my husband, Karim: If every Consultant started their Arbonne business with a husband like you, there would be far more Mercedes-Benzes on the road. Thank you for never being one of the obstacles I had to overcome.

If you are trying to decide whether or not Arbonne is a fit for you, consider this: This business is simple and risk-free. It will take work, but to me the payoff is worth it. What other company will provide every person an equal chance to move to the top, the ability to choose their own hours, the people they work with, as well as an opportunity to earn a white Mercedes Benz? The only way to not succeed in this business is to quit. Go for it — you have nothing to lose and so much to gain!
