SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“Go with your heart.”

I am a true believer that the universe gives you what you need; the question is, will you take the plunge when the opportunity is presented to you?

I was introduced to Arbonne while on maternity leave. I came from a corporate background working as a sales manager in a large advertising firm ... the company had gone through massive restructuring and I assumed I might be next on the chopping block.

My neighbour called and asked me to look at a business she was getting involved with. Little did I realize her call to ask for my advice would change my life. For a week, I couldn't sleep as I thought about the business opportunity, and exactly one week after I was introduced to Arbonne, I was let go from my corporate career of 10 years. I skipped out of the office, knowing this was my sign to do what I couldn't get out of my mind ... Arbonne. That was May of 2006. But my journey was not what I hoped it would be.

When I told my friends about Arbonne, they thought I was crazy. My family wasn't quite sure what to think, and I was left with finding my clients by cold-calling them. Usually the beginning of a new business or career is met with massive support, but for many, this “abnormal” job was not what they were expecting. Honestly, I knew I had landed on a pot of gold and I thought others would see this vision immediately, as I did. I expected my business to explode and saw myself and many of my friends going to the top within a year. That is not what happened, but I pushed through, knowing the alternative was leaving my daughter behind to work in the corporate world, and have someone else raise her. Soon after, my life changed forever.

Jan, one of my dear friends, saw my passion and drive and decided, “I want to drive the white Mercedes-Benz, too.” So my business was underway ... it was so wonderful to work with a friend and someone who also loved the products and the business. But as fast as it had begun, our lives were turned upside down. The weekend RVP Teri West flew in to launch our business and do some training, the unthinkable happened ... Jan's son, Quinn, was tragically taken from her. As the weeks passed and we had many conversations, one thing Jan said stood out to me: “I never regretted not having a career that kept me from my children. I was able to be at everything for them, including being there every day after school.” I can still hear those words today, and as each day I struggled with building my business, it is what pushed me forward.

Today, I have a business with a global scope across Canada, Australia and the UK, and this is just the beginning. I have amazing Clients, Consultants and Business Builders on my team who help me reach for excellence each and every day. I am home with my daughter as much as I want to be — she is happy and has an extremely balanced life, as do my husband and I.

I want to thank from the bottom of my heart my sponsor, Desiree Blume, for introducing me to this amazing opportunity, and RVP Teri West, for finding that Canadian link from Edmond, Oklahoma! Thanks, Teri, for having the dream of bringing your business to Canada and for your continued support, training and listening ear.

Thank you to my amazing team! My good friend, RVP Mary Paone, has been instrumental with her ideas, energy and training, taking our team to the next level. Mary has set her course and moves forward to make her dreams become reality. My first DM, now AM Tim Oye, was an early pioneer in this business with me — thanks to both Tim and Jerry for your big vision!

To AM Laura Forsythe: Thank you for bringing your business expertise to our team, and the even bigger vision. I love the way you think outside of the box.

Our team is growing so fast that by the time you read this, many of these DMs will be AMs, RVPs or NVPs! Thanks to all of you for your vision. Jump on and hold tight — this is an amazing ride!

To Jenny Mitchell Gash, Heather Kawaguchi, Emily Kawaguchi, Sonja Haenni, Nicole Cleve, Beth Latorre, Tara Winterbottom, Angela Smee, Riesa Verigin, Kristy Keus, Lecily Corbett, Shelley Freeman, Deborah Johnson, Judy Crane and Shelley Plotnikoff: Congratulations on going DM; if you can go DM, you can go RVP!

To all our up-and-coming DMs: Well done — keep your eye on the goal! Thanks to my many Consultants who love the products and share consistently on a daily basis. Thank you for all you do.

To NVP Kay Draelos: Thank you for your ability to portray the big vision for so many.

Thank you to my family, and my mom, Jane, who has always believed in me my entire life and has stood behind me on this venture.

At three years old, my daughter, Jaglin, was saying, “Have a great Arbonne day!” She has been so patient with my business, and when I leave the house, she always says, “Good luck, Mommy!” Thank you, Jaglin — that makes my job so much easier!

And of course, I would never have been so successful had it not been for my husband, Darren. He has been my pillar of strength; he believes in me and all I stand for. Thanks, Darren, for sharing this vision with me from the beginning ... this is our winning lottery ticket.

As Quinn wrote in his journal, “No regrets!” We must all learn from these words.
