SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“The harder I work, the luckier I get.”

My life appeared to be great! Happy kids, great husband, beautiful home and a flexible job. I was a bookkeeper for a chain of clothing stores in Southern Alberta. I loved the people I worked with and enjoyed my job, although I couldn't see myself working there forever. Having two young boys and working for someone else's dreams wasn't part of my plan. Raising my young family was my top priority, yet I knew I still needed something fulfilling for myself. My husband and I looked into starting a few different traditional businesses, but the upfront investment and overhead costs were too risky. I was looking to make a change; I wanted to have it all, I just didn't know how to get it.

It was while I was on maternity leave with my second son that I attended an Arbonne Presentation hosted by a good friend of mine. I went just to get out of the house ... a little “Mom time” and a glass of wine was all I was after. I ended up with some fabulous products for my kids and started using skin care for the first time in my life. I was a true believer in the products. Never did it cross my mind that there was a business attached to Arbonne that could allow me to stay home and raise my kids. I thought this type of business was a little hobby to allow moms to get out of the house, and I wasn't looking for a hobby!

About a year after that Arbonne Presentation, I was approached by another Independent Consultant who told me that this business is no hobby, and that there were many women becoming extremely successful right here in Canada ... many of them young moms, too! When I learnt this, I realized I could have the best of both worlds. I could be the successful businesswoman I have always wanted to be, as well as the stay-at-home mom that was very important to our family. I did have some pre-conceived notions about this type of business; was I going to throw my education out the window to sell skin care and lipstick?

I learnt quickly that an Arbonne business is much more than “selling products” — it is about helping others and changing lives with a brilliant business model. So many women have hidden their dreams under the carpet because they are worried about what others will think or the possibility of failing.

I began my Arbonne journey three years ago, not knowing much about the products. What I did know was that if all these other women and men had made it to the top of this company, so could I. I trusted the system already in place and stuck to what was working for other successful Arbonne Independent Consultants. I removed the option to quit the day I started and kept myself focused on my goal of being home with my boys. I was able to leave my bookkeeping job within the first year of my business and have never looked back. My hope is to show others that they can have it all.

This business is about hard work, commitment and a positive attitude. What I have learnt is that the harder I work, the luckier I get. Professionals from all walks of life are choosing Arbonne because of the opportunity and the product philosophy. If you are considering an Arbonne career, I urge you to forget your “title” and think about what is most important in your life.

My family had the luxury of moving to a small town in Southern Manitoba, back to where my husband and I grew up. This worked great for my Arbonne business, but for my husband's oilfield career it was a different situation. When he goes to work, it's not for a day or two, it's for a month or two or three. I am so grateful that I now have the opportunity to build a business large enough to bring him home!

If you are reading this story as a brand-new Independent Consultant, or perhaps you are thinking of starting your own Arbonne business, take my advice and jump in, find someone successful who you look up to and copy them. We have a proven system to build a business. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Arbonne has only been in Canada for six years; what a huge opportunity!

My success is the combination of efforts from an amazing team. I value your dedication and friendship and look forward to sharing many more laughs with you all.

First and foremost, I have to thank my boys, Parker, Karson and Nate. I did this for you three; you are the most fun I know.

To my husband, Willis: Having your support since the day I started this journey has meant the world to me. You are such a devoted husband and dad; I couldn't have asked for more.

To my family — Mom and Dad, you are always there when we need you. Gayle, you've been so giving of your home and flexible with your schedule to help us. Graham, Sheldon and Joe, our sons have the best uncles in the world; you have no idea how much I appreciate all the attention you give them! Haley, where do I even start? You are my number-one hostess, sister, super-auntie and best-friend ... I owe so much of my success to you.

To all of my extended family, friends and Clients: Your support has never gone unnoticed. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I will continue to provide you with the best customer service out there.

Last, but certainly not least, thank you to a group of women who have taught me everything I know about this business. Where would I be without you all? ENVP Tammy Van der Veen, NVP Carly Struik, ERVP Danyel Scharnberg, ERVP Nicole Rasmussen-Plandowski, ERVP Tara Anderson and EDM Julianna Lakevold, you inspire me daily. I value our friendships and look forward to many more great times together.

To all the Arbonne pioneers: Your leadership and vision created this all. Thank you!
