SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“Choose to share this opportunity every day.”

I have always welcomed a challenge, and the past year has provided many challenges and endless blessings. On November 16, 2005, my Why arrived two months early. As tiny as she was at three pounds nine ounces, Sophia LaCroix turned our world completely upside down.

I am a high school biology teacher and was very thankful for my science background during our lengthy stay in the hospital. Sophia and I spent the first three months of her life in the neonatal intensive care unit in Edmonton, Alberta (five hours from home). My husband, Ryan, traveled to see us every weekend and then returned home to work during the week to support us. Finally, after many surgeries, more tears, prayers and sleepless nights than we could count, we finally got to bring our baby home.

Two weeks later I received a phone call from a very old friend, ERVP Dara Macklin. We had played junior golf together in high school and had completely lost touch over the past 10 years. She had her own story to tell. She was working part-time, had far surpassed her teaching income and was driving a white Mercedes-Benz that she received by participating in Arbonne’s Mercedes-Benz Cash Bonus Program! I was not remotely interested in starting a business, but I agreed to listen to what she was doing. After all, she was an old friend.

I had never heard of Arbonne before. It all made sense to me though — the efficient marketing, the generous compensation plan, not to mention the incredible products! But initially I did not feel the timing was right for me to start a business. After the stressful times we had just been through, I planned to spend the remainder of my maternity leave at home with our new family.

Then two things happened that completely changed my mind. The first was a mental shift from “I have five months of maternity leave left” to “I only have five months of maternity leave left.” I would have to return to teaching full-time in September, and the idea of leaving Sophia so soon was heartbreaking. The second thing that happened was Arbonne got into me. I could never afford to be a stay-at-home mom, but once the possibility got into my head, there was no getting it out. I literally had sleepless nights dreaming of the potential. A lot of people worry, “What if it does not work?” I worried, “What if it does work?” How can I say no to something that could entirely change my life?

Two weeks later, at the end of March 2006, I launched my Arbonne business and the timing was perfect! I started sharing this incredible opportunity with everyone I knew. Jennifer Hewko and Karen Gilkyson were my first business builders and together we started building an amazing team. In two months I promoted to Area Manager and three months later, when my maternity leave was over, we became a Region. I went back to teaching half-time in a brand new Mercedes-Benz!

I have been asked more than once how I did it. I did two things very consistently; the first is that I followed a very simple business building system. Arbonne provides us with incredible tools to grow our business through their comprehensive online training. The second thing I did was stay in constant activity. I made the choice to share this incredible opportunity again and again, and my business has grown quickly as a result.

That is only part of the answer, as it is impossible to achieve success in this business on your own. I have the most incredible team of people to work with — men and women who have caught the vision along with me. The best advice I could give to any business builder is to value your team and be in constant communication with them. Choose every day to surround yourself with positive people, as they inspire great attitudes, and attitude is everything!

To ERVP Dara and Royce Macklin: Thank you. I admire your determination to achieve your goals, your exceptional leadership and your unselfish dedication to your team. I aspire to make the kind of difference in someone’s life that you have already made in mine.

To EAM Don and Kyla Mitchell: Thank you for your continuous support and encouragement. We have taken this journey together every step, and it is only just beginning.

To my AMs, Sherene Hawkes, Karen Gilkyson, Jennifer Hewko, Jackie Moodie, Michelle Coady and Christy Tom Huete: Thank you for taking this leap of faith with me. We have been in and out of each other’s lives for a reason, and now we are truly making history together. You are incredible women and I am so grateful to be working with you.

To my DMs: Your dedication and determination will take you where you want to go. Thank you for continuing to share this opportunity every chance you get! Keep dreaming and never lose sight of the big picture. To my first friend and Sophia’s godmother, DM Jenn Oba: Thank you for advising me to “go for it.” I am so happy you decided to “go for it” with me.

To all our Consultants just getting started: You have so many doors open to you right now. It is such an exciting time to be a part of Arbonne!

To my husband, Ryan: Thank you for your unfaltering faith in me, it means everything. The past year has brought many life changes and you are the consistency. Thank you for being my chef, secretary, chauffeur, advisor and very best friend, not to mention a phenomenal father.

This brings me full circle to our little miracle, Sophia: You are the reason I began this fantastic journey and I thank God each day that you are in our lives, enriching every moment.
