SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“Be consistent in your weekly activity. Consistency will contribute to a constant and sustainable success.”

The ultra-successful say that most of us will only be presented with two or three opportunities in our entire life that, when pursued, will make all dreams become reality. If you were presented with one of those two opportunities, would you recognize it? And more importantly, would you have the courage to make important sacrifices necessary to capture it?

For me, it took a life-threatening illness to grasp that Arbonne is one of those “few opportunities” available to change your life. In June 2005, days before our first anniversary and weeks before my 25th birthday, I received a telephone call from doctors who had found a tumor in my chest the size of a small potato. In a moment, I went from the top of the world in my personal life and professional career, to a hospital bed in a cardiac unit with a devastating diagnosis. Through the next eight months of treatment, my perspective on absolutely everything in my life changed. And … along came Arbonne.

Early in treatment, I learned about the harmful ingredients that traditional personal product companies were legally allowed to use in their formulations. I became passionate about finding a company that produced natural products, and who mandated an ethical responsibility to keep consumers safe. A mutual friend told us about ENVP Sonya Shields, a woman who had been instrumental in introducing a new “pure, safe and beneficial” product line to Canada — Arbonne. I wasted no time contacting Sonya to discuss Arbonne. Immediately, I purchased my Consultant membership to acquire my products at a discount. I was not such an easy sell on the industry. It took eight months of extensive research, and a return to my profession in commercial banking, before I would formally decide to launch my Arbonne business.

My parents had taught me that with hard work and perseverance, I could achieve anything I set out to. Before I became ill, I thought I had it all. When I returned to work, I quickly learned that a corporate office was no longer the ticket to my dreams.

My husband works shift work nine hours away from home in the oilfield, and loves what he does. Prior to my illness, we paid little attention to the nominal amount of time we had together. When he was home from his shifts, I was at the bank; when he was working away from home, I was at the bank. The job I had loved so much soon became confining.

While financing many mid-sized businesses in my career, I had secretly been seeking an opportunity that would better suit our lifestyle. One thing seemed to hold me back from pursuing these ventures, an investment of time. Before Arbonne, it had never occurred to me that I could increase my corporate income exponentially, while working only a few hours a day from my home office in this industry. Approximately fifteen months after I had launched my business, I “retired” from my banking career to pursue Arbonne full time.

Now, only two years into the business, I get what those other VPs speak of. Building an Arbonne business provides potential to exceed nearly any income, while giving you control of your time. The biggest gift in Arbonne, however, is how much good it does for other people, and seeing lives of those on your team change a little bit each day.

If I could provide advice to those considering Arbonne, or to those new to Arbonne, it would be to stop settling. Stop settling for what is comfortable in your life right now if it does not make you happy. Stop settling in your business if you want more. The Arbonne business model is simple, so stick to it. With perseverance, passion and patience, your team and customer base will grow. This opportunity appeals to anyone seeking change in their life. Take advantage of the greatness of the opportunity being offered to you, and share it with everyone. Know that sacrifices you make along the way are short in term, and worth in time. You are the only person in charge of what your life looks like. You do not get a second chance at today.

To my husband, Kelly, I cannot put into words what your constant advice and support has meant to me. You push me to overcome fear and to dream bigger, while never letting me feel vulnerable. I always feel the comfort of your hand on my back, even when we are miles apart.

To my parents, thank you for teaching me to never give up, and that anything is possible.

To my sponsor, ENVP Sonya Shields, thank you for never letting me quit on myself, and for always finding a way to make me believe more. You have set an incredible example to your team, and our country, and I am honored to be a part of your SuccessLine.

To EAM Karmelle Johnston, and AMs Jennifer Conrad and Mya Johnsen, enjoy your journey and keep believing. You are ENVPs in the making, and you continue to inspire me every day. Thank you for trusting in me, and for all that you do to empower those around you.

To DMs Melissa Whitfield, Kathy Laycock, Trish Cooper, Theresa Papke and Tiarra, Consultant Candace Shortland, and all of the Consultants in our SuccessLine, thank you for your continued focus, all that you do daily in your business, and for our team. Your time is coming.

To my customers and family, thank you for all of your ongoing support, referrals and orders. You are the most important part of our business.

A famous philosopher once said, “Be not afraid of greatness; some are born great, some achieve great and others have greatness thrust upon them.” It does not matter which one of these categories you fit into. With Arbonne, anyone has the opportunity to become great, and to “do great.” May you be the one to choose to take advantage of this opportunity now, and not the one that says, “I wish I had.”
