SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“Embrace your wish until it becomes your reality.”

Arbonne is a meshing of two worlds for me: One as a professional, and one as a wife and mom.

Both provide meaning to who I am and assist me in achieving happiness and balance. It did not happen overnight. Looking back, it was an interesting 18-month road that led me here.

The first step on this journey was made by wishing upon a star. I was not the one wishing—it was my daughter Linde, then 2 and my first child.

When Linde was born, I was still dedicated to putting my career before my family. I wanted to utilize my years of education and further my corporate career in community relations for a major oil and gas company. Each day with my family while on maternity leave made the reality of my career more difficult to embrace. I immensely enjoyed the little moments with my family. I was not prepared for how hard it would be to leave my little girl for somebody else to raise ten hours a day, five days a week.

But my job was the accumulation of years of effort, and at that moment I could not imagine anything else. It was not until I came home one day to hear my daughter singing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” that I realized how little all that effort actually meant in the larger scheme of things

It was not the image of her sitting in the chair, making a wish upon the distant skies, which made me come to this realization. It was the fact that she was singing a song that someone else had taught her—someone other than me. It was at that moment that I decided to find a way to meet the career goals I had set for myself and still be there for my family. At that time, I was unable to put my plans into action. The demanding work schedule placed the wish to the back of my mind as a future goal.

When Kenton, my second child, was born, my husband, Scott, and I made the decision to step away from my job in Community Relations and move back to my home town in Hope, BC Canada so I could be closer to my parents and extended family. It was during that move that Kenton was bit by a mosquito and developed eczema as a result.

The eczema plagued his body for three months. From doctors’ appointments to skin specialists, I existed from day to day, never suspecting how one thing would result in the kind of life I was envisioning for my family.

The one special thing began so modestly: My mom, Becky, attended an Arbonne party and returned with a product sample from Arbonne’s baby care line. But, before trying a skin care product I had never heard of on my son, I spent hours researching the product. Through those hours of research, I not only hoped that I had found a product that relieved my son’s pain. I hoped I found an opportunity to provide me with a way to balance the demands of family and career, with the emphasis where it matters—at home.

With the first application the products worked dramatically on six-month-old Kenton, and for the first time in his life he slept through the night. That morning he did not wake up crying from being itchy, but greeted me with a soft, relaxed smile. At that moment, I was in! Mostly, I wanted to help any other mom out there that was also struggling with skin issues feel the same incredible sense of relief that I felt when we found a solution.

This is a simple business—not always easy—but always rewarding. Sometimes it just takes time to see what the reward is going to be. It may be a new friend, Client or Consultant—but part of the reward is taking the time to enjoy the process. For me, this is a lifelong journey, one that I get to spend with amazing people.

As with any network marketing business, it has its share of sceptics. Scott, my husband, was among them. It is not that he did not support or believe in me. It was that he was used to the regular world that so many hours equal so much pay. Network marketing’s structure was a whole new concept. It was an awesome moment for me when he gave an amazing speech at my Mercedes-Benz car presentation that outlined his own realization that this business did in fact work. I couldn’t have done this without you, babe. ”Love you!”

Arbonne is now helping us build our acreage dream house. It is also allowing us to totally control our own schedule and create time for special memories with family—including travel. But, for me the most important thing of all is the ability to work from home and be surrounded by our children and family. To my entire family for all of your support and positive feedback, thank you. I love you all so much!

Also, I couldn’t have gotten to Regional Vice President without my amazing team. To my District Managers, Katie Erickson, Scotti Erickson, Diana Decker and Crystal MacDonald, you have been there in one way or another from the start, you’re my “Hope” team. Your dreams are coming—I can feel it! A huge thanks to my “Get it, Got It, Gone…” Area Managers and each and everyone of their team members. Heather Bell, my island girl, your positive attitude in life and in business inspires so many every day. Tova Vanderveen, your commitment to your team and your business is such an inspiration to everyone. To my friends and Clients that have supported me in so many ways, a big thank you.

This business is not as easy as wishing upon a star, but if you take a wish and make it a goal, trust me…anything is possible.
