SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“When your dreams are greater than your fears, you can accomplish anything.”

Chantal Gauthier of St. Bruno, Quebec, needed a change in career and in life. After months of saying no to Arbonne, she realized nothing would change unless she made it happen, and she embraced the opportunity!

Close your eyes and ask yourself these two questions: If I stick to what I'm currently doing and don't change a thing, where will I be in five years? When I get up in the morning, am I psyched to be doing something I love, or am I going though the motions out of a sense of obligation?

I've had a zest for life ever since I was young. I've always dreamed of doing great things, helping those around me, overcoming challenges, pushing my limits and living life to the fullest. At age 21, I had the opportunity to secure a federal government job in Ottawa. I felt lucky to have job security, a pension plan and an attractive benefits package. However, as the years went by, I became less and less enthused about my work. I wasn't leveraging my desire to help people, I worked only because I had to, and I began to live my life waiting for something — waiting for weekends, vacations and even retirement. At 42, this wasn't really my ideal life plan.

In 1990, I decided to go back to school to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology at Ottawa University. Working full-time, I obtained my degree in 1995. Driven by a new passion, I began to look for work. However, things did not go as planned. I was unable to let go of the security provided by my very stable government job, as well as all the benefits it offered. What to do?

In January of 2007, I discovered Arbonne through a very close friend, ENVP Michel Brisson. He let me try a few products, which I instantly loved. Michel then talked about the Arbonne business opportunity, but I chose to ignore it. I was very sceptical toward this industry and much too busy to start my own business. Almost a year later, I finally accepted an invitation to take part in an Arbonne information soirée, during which Michel asked only one thing of me: to keep an open mind. That evening was the beginning of the rest of my life.

Arbonne is a health and wellness company that has existed in the United States since 1980, then expanded to Canada in 2006, followed by Australia and the United Kingdom in 2007. Think about it — a company boasting 32 years of experience and leadership, just kicking off its global expansion in virgin Canadian soil! Furthermore, Arbonne features an unparalleled ingredient policy, is committed to the environment and produces green innovations. Everything was there to ensure success.

I understood that by launching my own Arbonne business, I had the opportunity to create a generous income while working part-time from home, on top of my current job. Furthermore, the great thing about this is that the only way to move up the ranks is to help others succeed and achieve their dreams. I had finally found what I wanted to do with my life.

I launched my Arbonne business in June 2008. Following Michel's advice, I filled up my activity calendar, read as much literature as possible, attended all training sessions, kept a positive attitude, and remained steadfast in the face of adversity. In March 2010, I quit my government job — which was a very liberating moment for me — to focus on my business full time. In December 2011, I was promoted to National Vice President. I can honestly say that Arbonne has completely changed my life. Arbonne enables me to push my limits by getting out of my comfort zone, thereby allowing me to grow and become a better person. I believe that the Arbonne gift isn't the title, the Mercedes-Benz Cash Bonus Program, or the monthly commission cheque, but the person we become and the people we meet along the way.

My road to success had many obstacles. In order to build an Arbonne business, one must believe in it and be ready to put in the necessary time and effort. What are your dreams? If they are bigger than your fears, you'll achieve all of your objectives. Where will you be in five years? Who says we need to settle in life? Commit fully, dare to leave your comfort zone, surround yourself with positive people and, above all, don't let anyone shake your faith. Take the road less travelled, and you'll end up a winner.

I would like to thank the one who gave me this great gift, ENVP Michel Brisson. Michel, thank you from the bottom of my heart for not giving up on me when I kept saying "no" for over a year. Thank you for your leadership, your professionalism and for always being there for me. Most of all, thank you for being a friend. You changed my life and I shall be forever grateful.

Thank you to ENVP Milva Kennedy for having paved the way for the rest of us. A visionary is someone who believes before seeing, and that's what you are in our eyes. Thank you, my friend. Thank you to ENVP Debbie Neal for your great vision and the leadership you've shared with us. To all my Arbonne colleagues: Thank you for your encouragement and teamwork. We are better together.

To ERVP Geneviève Maltais: I am deeply grateful that Arbonne brought us together. Your ever-positive attitude makes you a veritable ray of sunshine. Thanks to Arbonne, you're a full-time mom to your three little ones, and nothing could make me happier. This is just the beginning. Thank you!

To RVP Francine Dufour: I'm so happy you chose to accept this gift. Your determination and strength of character are admirable. I know this is just the beginning of a very promising future for both yourself and Maika, which puts a smile on my face.

To RVP Angela Magliocco: What a joy it is to watch you grow. You are like a flower that blooms a little more every day. Your determination and desire to help those around you are what make you an exceptional person. I'm so happy to have you in my life.

To my best friend, AM-in-qualification Julie Prescott, whom I love so much: I am deeply grateful that we can live this adventure together. It wouldn't be the same without you.

To my team: I wouldn't be where I am today without each and every one of you. Thank you for all that you do. My biggest wish is to inspire you as best I can to always believe in yourself. Thank you.

To my partner, Marc: Thank you for your encouragement, support and invaluable advice, which I sincerely appreciate. Thank you for always believing in and being there for me. I never would have succeeded without you. I love you.

To my daughter, Laurence, the love of my life: Thank you for your support and help. My greatest wish is that you never let fear or others stop you from daring to achieve your dreams. I'm so proud of you, and I adore you.

To CEO Kay Napier, Helena Alexandre, and everyone at the Home Office: Thank you for all you do for us every day. I greatly appreciate all of you.
